FAM Political Action

In order for Food AND Medicine to further our mission of ultimately living in a community where no one is forced to choose between food, medicine and other basic necessities, it's critical that we have elected officials who support that mission. We need legislators who believe in strong unions and worker rights, improved public transportation, access to healthy food, healthcare as a right, racial equity and a strong social safety net.

While we recognize that no candidate or legislator will ever be perfect, we sent a questionnaire, met with and/or carefully reviewed available information about candidates in a number of races, and often endorse candidates who strongly support our values. Our capacity limits us to endorsing in only races where we feel that we can make a difference.

June 9, 2026 Primary Endorsements

Registered Democrats and those who are unenrolled (did not declare a party affiliation with their voter registration) are encouraged to vote in the Primary on or before June 9, 2026, for candidates who support Food AND Medicine's values. We proudly endorse the following two candidates who we know will work hard for workers and low-income people of Maine.

Troy Jackson, Democrat for Maine Governor - our endorsement was announced at our 2025 Labor Day Celebration.

Graham Platner, Democrat for US Senate - our endorsement was announced May 8, 2026.

We have not endorsed in the Maine Congressional District 2 primary race; this is not a reflection of our opinion of any of the candidates, but because of our current capacity.
